I found a few wood mushrooms and some shaggy parasols today. COW coming through a lot here now at the same time. I don't have years of experience but seems weird, this is the first thing i've picked since St Georges...

I have now seen a Chicken of the wood on a fallen oak tree at a show I went to over the weekend. As far as I know, it was still intact by the end of the weekend.

I spent several hours hunting today and came home empty handed. Then my neighbour just told me where i could find a giant puff ball if the cows hadn't trod on it.
Sure enough it had survived and there was a second one growing in a difficult to access spot, so picked the easy one and left the other. My 1st find so quite happy. My neighbour isn't interested in eating puffballs but spots them every year. This spot is a new one apparently but within walking distance of a regular fruiting location so maybe a good year for puffs? Sometimes you just get lucky

Found some ceps yesterday, but haven't yet identified them, so not picked any yet. The slugs and snails seem to think they are good through.

We found a lovely big fairy ring of field mushrooms in an alpaca field when a few of us went for a forage at the skills share. Breakfast the next morning was enhanced.
