My brother in law wants us to take his dad fly fishing somewhere, isn't October the wrong time of year for that? None of us have fished before, is this a good idea? Where's a good place to go for a couple of days, etc, etc....

Sounds ideal, don't think his dad'd enjoy it though.

Commercial fisherys normally stock Rainbow Trout and you are permitted in the main to fish all year round for them. A quick trip through The Yellow Pages and the trout fisheries section should see you fixed up.

I think he had visions of going somewhere nice for a couple of days rather than the local trout lake.

Round here?

Anyway he had the idea of going away for a couple of days, couldn't tell the missus we're going to Basildon for the weekend....

Thinking about it we should probably go shooting rather than fishing, anywhere we could do some air rifle shooting? Be blinking handy to actually fire a weapon for the first time, see if it's something that appeals.

Can't believe you were stupid enough to buy an estate without your own private stretch of river and Ghillie.

New to it weren't I. Don't remember you ever mentioning that until, well until just now actually.
