Happytechie just sent a link to this to me and many of our friends, telling them it was yet another reason to buy HandMadeMeat TIs true though! https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7377416.stm Sorry if it's already been posted, I had a little look but couldn't spot it.

Yet another reason to cook at home, with meat bought from a producer you trust (such as handmademeat.co.uk ), or give the restaurant or whatever a thorough questioning as to where their meat comes from. The general catering industry has always bought c**p food at low prices, in order to maintain profit margins.

I wouldn't say it's just pubs and restaurants but in my experience I think there's a need for tightening up what people can call local.

Just with most other forms of shopping consumers need to think things through a bit. One of the reasons we stopped going to our local farmers market was because so many of the produces were shipping in stuff from too far away, 100 miles or more.
