(Sorry Treacodactyl! I know we're not growing many if any this year - so humour me )

I would like to go to one of these as I see you can buy small amounts of different potatoes but there's never been one near enough to me to make it worth while. The Dulwich one is on a Sunday and would take houuuuuurs to get to by train. I fancy the Ryton one, as my family don't live too far off and it could be combined with a day at the garden - but nobody up there would go with me and I don't want to go on my own.

Perhaps that would be an appropriate choice for the Inaugural Downsizer Meet-Up

So has anybody been, would you recommend it, any suggestions? Most likely we'll be back to the garden centre's pick-n-mix - it's a bit limited, but at least they do that much. I'd like to try Linzer Delikatess next time.

There's got to be one near(er) you, I'm sure the RHS have potato days at some of their gardens but they're not listed in the members handbook. Try ringing your local RHS garden. I've never been to a potato day but aple one's are great.

There's one in Hampshire, and the Dulwich one, but both involve such a long journey and don't seem to be at a garden so it's not worth it. Pity that the RHS doesn't run one, or at least, doesn't seem to, and I wouldn't turn down another visit to Yalding.

Do Wisley do them? I thought you were over that way? If they do I'll be up for it (as long as it's after next week!) If not, I've family up ryton way too, so I'll come with you.

Better late than never? Probably not, given that many of the dates are gone by now - but not W Yorkshire's - sorry, bugs, only found the site today!

But the Hampshire HDRA Group maintain a listing of national potato days - it's on https://www.hhdra.org.uk/potato.htm#days.

I love the W Yorks day - lots (and lots!) of different varieties, and an expert on hand for all sorts of questions and info; couple of years ago it was Alan Romans.

All best - Gavin
