Read about this today in the Grauniad. A smartphone manufactured using materials from conflict-free areas, etc. Ok its still got bad things in it, but maybe its a step in the right direction.
My current contract is about to run out so I'm interested (I have a Samsung galaxy Ace and its often been a pain to use - freezing up, etc).

I thought there were no thantalum (sp?) mines outside of conflict areas...
They can presumably use recycled only, but it still originates from a conflict zone.

The Phone Cooperative have been promoting these recently. As a phone provider I would highly recommend them.

I have a fairphone - and I like it! Problems are the lack of availability of screen covers, and cases are expensive. But that is inevitable I fear.
