Any got any recommendations for hedge trimmers, as my last one has just expired in a puff of smoke. Electric for preference.

We've got a Robin, never been any hassle. I think they do a 4 stroke now which is a bit less hassle, Honda are 4 stroke too.

We have a stihl one and it is excellent. It isn't electric though.

Little Wonder with a 42 in blade - brilliant.

Had it for a few years and has done a lot of hedges but it isn't electric. I do have an electric Black and Decker which was just bought as a cheapy from Rockfield in Hereford, its nice and light and seems to work fine, but doesn't get that much use as the other is so good

All the best

Viking is the electric version of Stihl, which is why I mentioned the make. Very popular with groundspeople who have to use electric.

Well I've just replaced it with one of these. Not any of the makes anyone recommended here but;

- it's hayter which is a make I recognise
- the salesman showed it to me alongside a kawasaki and they were identical, even down to the model number of the engine etc.

and the clincher

- list price 450, I got it for 200 (and he even filled the tank for me)

So definitely a good price, more grunt than I need, now I just need to see how good it really is.
