Hi, my name is Jo and I love to make a mess in my kitchen. My new hobby is making jams and chutneys from the things we grow in our garden. I need help, my husband says the help I need will not be found on a site like this but I just ignore him lol. The first thing I need help with is how to work out how much fruit I have in an 8oz jar of jam. All answers will be appreciated and in return I will try to help others with their problems too if I rectify my own mistakes enought to be able to find a solution that I can pass on.
Thanking you all in advance,
Jo

Hello there. Welcome to the site.

Do you mean you want to know what fruit content a finished jar of jam has?

I suppose to calculate that you'd need to know the original sugar and fruit weights and the final total weight to see how much water the fruit lost in the process, then you'd know what proportions you had and could calculate for a 1/2lb jar accordingly.
