Posted: Tue Oct 10, 06 1:59 pm Post subject: Hound Pee Problem - Help! |
|
I'm not sure where to post this, so hope the Livestock forum is OK
My saluki X greyhound was a bit absent minded on Sunday and pee-ed in the house. He usually eats his food then goes outside and to "wash his paws" but the door had swung shut and I wasn't around to open it, so he trotted towards the front door and decided that was far enough in the circumstances.
If you aren't familiar with hounds, you should know that they do not pee very often (marking aside), but when they do, they really go for it.
The other thing to bear in mind is that hound pee also has much more amonia in it than usual dog pee. Sorry for the detail, but it is part of the problem
I cleaned up straight away with Ecover disinfectent. But this did nothing to remove the dreadful pong! So I then applied a product that claims to remove all odours of dog pee. You apply it liberally to the area, let it dry, then vac it up and odours should vanish. It did work while it was wet, but it dried properly over night and the pong was back this morning. I've done the area again, with more stuff as I don't think I applied enough the first time. But I'm worried that hound pee is stronger than the neutralising substance. All seems to be wiff-free at the moment, except for a floral/air-freshener smell from the cleaning product (usually a pet hate, but believe me, it's better than what was there before).
My greatest fear is that the volume was so great (we're talking tidal wave here) it's soaked through the carpet drenched the chipboard floor stuff underneath too
Has anyone got any advice? |
