Hi All...

Ive been visiting the site for a couple of month now and thought it was about time that I introduced myself.

I am an urban downsizer in that I live and work amongst the industrial sprawl of Teesside while trying to live simply (a couple of miles from the ghost ships you may have heard of). This includes growing as much of my own organic vegetables as possible on my 30m x 30m allotment (not yet fully productive) and buying as much as I can of the rest as locally as possible. However, the national supermarket chains can have an irresistable draw sometimes.

Ideally I would love to leave the town and become totally selfsufficient in food, fuel and everything else but I will settle for getting as close to my ideal as I possibly can however long it takes.

My username was given to me by my 14 son who thinks that my grasp on reallity is very slender when it comes to downsizing and ethical living, but I cant imagine that I am alone in fighting the cause while surrounded by sceptics.

Anyway thats all for now, dont want to bore you with too much detail in one go...

Keep up the good work all

nettie

GOod to have you aboard. I think we can all relate to being viewed as a tad eccentric.

Hi MD.

There are no un-mad people round here!

What happened re-those ships? Did they get chopped up, or are they still sitting there decomposing?

Do you mean he's a mini Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and just doesn't approve of the way you grow your cabbages or spice your sausages, or is he just 14 and thinks you're a liability?

Either way, you're in good (well...I'm not sure I can provide evidence for that) company here Welcome to the site, look forward to hearing more from you.
