Every year, I aim to pick something new I haven't picked before.

So far I've always managed. A different sort of mushroom or three, a plant that's new to my dinner table, etc. To be honest, it just sort of happens, but it's still a goal. I haven't failed in it yet, and almost always there are many new things to pick.

But it's slowed down, which means I'm especially happy to have found a new one already, allbeit slightly cheaty ones

On a spot where Cambridge council dump wood chips from Christmas trees (and in which garden waste gets mixed, it would appear) I picked some broccoli on the way home. Green sprouting broccoli so sweet you could eat it raw.

Okay, it probably doesn't count, but it's a nice find.

Isn't that how we managed to get ground elder in the wild? Escapees!
If it has self seeded, then it's wild food. So I would count that broccoli as a find.
