I was looking around and thinking, that's funny Rob has used Mambo, wonder if he was inspired by us!

Looks really good at first glance although I think some of the information is a bit buried (I think the "news" section and the August newsletter, particularly) although I think that's a problem of Mambo (wow, almost, nearly sound like I know what I'm talking about. It's an illusion, don't worry).

Will you be updating it yourself Rob?

I may place the latest articles on the front page similar to downsizer.

The site has been developed in a bit of a haphazard manner as both Rob and I are busy on other things as well. The initial look was based on the assumption of quite static content, and hence a "latest article" section would have been stale and detracted from the main content of the site. Rob has since however been I hope enjoying the ease of addding content with Mambo, and so the premise may have to change a bit.

Once you get your head round it (Mambo) it becomes quite easy to use

(but all the technical stuff I just ask jema

)

Updating the old site was always something that got rather overlooked with all the more 'important' jobs to be done, so I thought by making a monthly feature that must be updated it would inject a certain degree of routine into its maintenance.

I have had a couple of suggestions of the typeface needing changing- any ideas?

Recipes are another thing, although it may look like a HFW tribute (permissions pending), that's only because he produces some of my favourite ideas, there are some more to go up, and a few more that need some thorough testing first

I was hoping some of those who have tried our produce would send some good ideas for me to publish (and test

) too.

my cursor is hovering over the wool (again! at least it doesn't mean clearing out the freezer!)

I've got a fab recipe book called boozy food - its got some great meaty recipes for things like goulasch, hot pot and beef and guiness pie. Its out of print, so I guess you can print the recipes, if I send you some. The goulasch in particular is great - oh and beef boirgonionne (must look up how to spell that........)

Re: wool, this years crop is being spun into DK weight, as well as the Light Aran from last year, so that will be going online as & when it is available.

Beef bourguignon (isn't dictionary.com just great

) as coincidence would have it, I have a recipe & it is on my to do list (the cooking bit looks easy, its looking in the freezer for the stewing beef may take a bit of doing

)

I like it - obviously its a bit light in content at the moment - it would be nice to see some more piccies from around the farm showing the work you are doing re: conservation and land management

Also pictures of the chooks free-ranging and the pigs out in the fields would be good as well - Just cynic in me thinking what people want to see most is the idyllic lifestyle to buy into

As for recipes for the Dexter Beef - We are slowly working our way through the last lot (wish I had space for that other half steer) - last night we had some short-ribs slow cooked in shallots, mushrooms, half a bottle of red wine and beef stock - Absolutely divine

Never had short-rib before - not something you really see in the butchers but the flavour was fantastic and because it was cooked slowly and then left a day for the flavours to mature - not a bit tough - it just melted in your mouth.

Sounds good, we are discussing with ever more frequency the idea of an extra freezer. The idea of being able to get really well sourced meat via downsizer is very attractive.

so where can we get freebie, free-range, freezers then? I tried to scrounge one of MIL at the weekend, but she wouldn't le me have it (she's got four!)

There was one I missed on freecycle recently

I think I was too nice for my own good waiting to see if someone who had a bigger need grabbed it.

I must admit, I want a frost free one though. But the biggest headache is finding the space.
