Stats can be very interesting. Just found out that someone from Houston, Texas with a Halliburton ISP has found my site by doing a msn search for Loompanics, and found me on the 14th page of his/her search results! So links on your pages can work in reverse. I wonder, will the CIA knock on my door soon (the link was on the 'survival' page to a subversive publisher, and Halliburton is connected with Bush....)?
But they can also be misleading. When I looked up who spent nearly three hours on my site, I discovered it was most likely someone I know who has broadband, and probably logged on, had a brief look at the page, and then left it in the background whilst doing something else. But, you do get a pretty good rough idea, and quite a kick, when someone from Pakistan or some other remote place found you. And its fascinating to see the exponentil growth. Statscount (along with this forum) is on my fav list for daily checks (hourely...1/2 hourely....) |
