I have an energiser, with power out lead to the fence, and an earth spike. I have the fence.
There is power in to the energiser, and I can run it off a battery, or the solar panel. I'm assuming I can connect the solar panel to the battery, and it will charge the battery, to allow power when it's dark. Is that correct? Red lead from the panel to the battery +ve, and then on to the energiser red lead, and the same for black?
it needs a diode in the positive line so as the battery cant power(cook) the panel at night
positive to positive ,diode pointing from panel to battery ,neg to neg easy done
the panel out put v and input to energiser v should be fairly close ,mine got a bit frisky if it was very sunny so i guess it is possible to fry the energiser if the battery/panel is giving a lot over 12v ,i had 18v on tap one day and it survived that ,most of the time it ran at 12 and a bit by sunset
chances are it wont completely power the system unless you have a huge panel but it will reduce battery charging
keeping the weeds down is a wonder for increasing battery life
We ran the leccy on our cherries off a solar panel last year weedkled round the fence line to prevent shorting battery didn't need Mains topup at all. 200 mtrs overall I guess

The panel and energiser were sold as a set for this, so I am assuming the diode is within the little box on the back of the panel. The instructions were in Koreanglish, making actual functionality nil.
It's rated for 10 km. I need a couple of hundred metres, tops.
i got a belt of one of mine adjusting a hose , i was kneeling on damp ground
when i landed a couple of yards away i had gained more respect for them
the accidental weeing on one in the dark and rain in a strange place was nowt compared to a well charged battery on the pig fence for the pumpkins ,nearly as nasty as getting splatted by a tv power supply
my ones are one joule and a bit if the battery is frisky
2 joules will be very painful from the muscle spasm and potentially dangeroos if you make a good circuit
falling into a lit poultry net climbing over it with a bucket of feed as a insulator was funnier than dangeroos as most of the kick got grounded as i rolled about getting my bits zapped
in wet weather beware side swipe
dogs hate em and may well head for the hills if the ghost bites em twice
really try not to ,
the pumpkin kick was very nasty ,
240 single phase is sort of okbut best avoided in quantity ,
out of control van der graff interesting ,
well connected 1 joule fence really horrid ,
electron gun supply in crt telly very nasty , i hit the wall and "died for a bit " as far as i can work out

Yes, and no.
I'm in an hotel in the glorious citadel of Birmingham, and connection will occur this weekend, I merely had two hours of driving to catch up on my homework.
