Hi folks
I have about a dozen hens in a coop with an outside run on concrete with a straw covering. I have recently moved them from a free range situation as their house fell down and I wanted to get easier access to the eggs.
However after settling down in their new accommadation they started laying and for a couple of days I was getting six or seven eggs daily. Then all of a sudden they are only producing one or two eggs between them. Any Ideas?
They are on layers pellets and flaked barley with recycled egg shell out of a feeder which they have constant access to. They also have constant access to clean fresh water.

Eggasperated of Orkney!!!

Hello again.
Since I put the above question I went out into the hens run which is in between two old stone walls.
High up in the wall of a barn is an inset about 8 feet off the ground.
I climbed up and there in the cavity were nine lovely eggs.
I think I may have answered my own question

I have now blocked up the gap and we will see how the egg count from the official nest box goes in the next few days.

Who says only women have blonde moments

If you had a cockeral you may have lost one of your hens for a few weeks and been greeted by 9 chicks. I would have said perhaps they need to settle in or if the new place had less sun that may affect them. I had no idea they had their own ladders. What are the hens and how old?

Most of them are about a year old the product of hens that went walk about as you describe when they had more freedom.
They are no particular breed just a hotch potch of birds I've inherited or adopted over the years.
There is in fact a cockerel with the hens. When I moved them I culled off about six "self sown" cockerels but this guy was so big and handsome that I just had to give him a chance.
