Ingredients
8 oz. sloes with stones removed
1 lb. self raising flour
8 oz butter
8 oz sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons bicarb.
milk to mix
Recipe
Rub bicarb. flour and butter together.
Mix in sugar.
Add eggs and milk and beat until a smooth, dropping consistency is reached.
Stir in sloes.
Divide mixture between two greased loaf tins and bake at 180C for about an hour - until a knife pushed into the centre comes out clean.
Comments
The basic recipe can be modified by adding mixed-spice, brandy, other fruit etc.
