I'm a very lucky person to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the world, the west coast of British Columbia. Surrounded by ocean and mountains, with forests and rivers that are endless. Where else in the world can you jump in a boat, go whale watching, come back for a round of golf, then maybe up the mountain for a bit of skiing? The fishing here, wow! Salmon abound during several times of the year,depending on the species. Which brings me to the eagles. I think only next to Alaska, BC is home to the largest population of Bald Eagles. I see them almost everyday,and when I do, I just stop and watch them soaring in huge circles. Its just awesome, and I find it relaxing too. It brings a bit of sanity to the day to stop and watch these huge birds glide around in the currents of air.
So, then this appeared in the newspaper! The shock and anger it caused! And just blocks from my house too. To murder such an animal for its feet(claws), just unthinkable. I've read that in some countries that the punishment for theft was the removal of one's hand, and I'm thinking that is so barbaric. But now, not so much. |
