|
I'm not the only one here who makes jewellery here, so please chip in or correct me with better methods!
Also, if you sell findings or beads, let me know, would be better than linking to some of the large companies you can buy these things from!
Will start with the basics.
Images still to come, which make the instructions much more clear.
Basic Earrings
Before beginning your earrings, it's a good idea to sketch out how you would like your earring to look, and make sure you have the beads you need. A basic earring design tool (you'll need the Macromedia Flash plugin) is available here.
Single-Drop
Equipment Needed:
- 1 x pair of headpins
- 1 x pair of fish hooks or ear wires
- Round-nose pliers
- Wire cutters
- Beads
Method:
Step 1
Thread the beads you would like to use for each earring (starting with the largest, to appear on the bottom of the finished earring) onto a headpin, as in image 1.
Step 2
When all beads are threaded onto the headpin, bend the end of the headpin so it is 90 to the beads, as in image 2.
Step 3
Use the wire-cutters to cut the end of the wire off at just under 1cm above the beads. See image 3.
Step 4
Using your round-nosed pliers, bend the end of the wire into a loop.
Do this by starting at the end of the wire, clamp and curl the wire around pliers until you have a full loop. Image 4 should make this more clear.
Step 4
Open the loop slightly on your fish hook, now loop the top of the drop onto the bottom of the fish hook loop, and close the gap with your pliers, by holding the open loop between the pliers and pushing together gently. See image 5.
Repeat for the other earring.
Double-Drop
Equipment Needed:
