Basically they used pigs to dispose of human faeces, and ate them (a delicacy ) afterwards

The pigs, that is They were deemed to be the best meat in the village and much sought after. Doesn't seem to do the Adi any harm.

Unedifying though it is, I assume pgs are equipt to deal with it.

We can't eat grass, but we eat beef, beef don't taste of grass!

Pigs will eat other animal manure if given the chance, so human shouldn't be much different, unless the omnivore verses vegetarian manure makes a difference.

I read somewhere that about 50% of the protein we eat, passes straight through us. Pigs are great recyclers.

I sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember a big fuss a few years back because that's exactly what Fench pig farmers were doing!

Don't recall the French in particular, but yes this all rings a bell.

Well, I'll eat most things, hence the name, but that doesn't really appeal.

I've heard some good things about this series, but, on the whole, I think I'm glad I can't get it!

I didn't see the first one, but after the favourable reviews around here I tuned in last night.

I enjoyed it. The lips looked a lot worse without the plates (could you imagine trying to kiss one of them?)
The way he envolves himself in the day-to-day business of the tribe is a good idea, and the friendliness of the tribe was fantastic.

Saw it last night for the first time. I thought it was really good TV.

This is the sort of stuff that the BBC should focus on rather than chasing viewing figures

Agree, but I do believe the government needs them to achieve certain figures

Definately great TV with the usual caveat that 1 hour is way to short a time. Once again loads of questions well left dangling, though nothing dangled as much as those lips

I saw last nights one and it seemed as was mentioned in an earlier thread guns have messed up tribes again. Fair enough it was a somewhat violent society already but with the AK-47 more people are getting killed than ever. Is this down to Britain? Not too sure about how many countries that we arm and how much of economy is based on selling arms, but surely there is some way of protesting against this? Any info anyone?

This was a very interesting program I thought, watching Bruce drink blood was especially interesting, the cows did not seem that bothered at having holes stuck into their jugulars. I wondered if it felt the same as when we give blood. Don't supose anyone has drank cows blood, I wondered what it tasted like.

The other thing with programs like this is editing, what are we really seeing? Do the Tribes people really get on as well as we saw? What would it have been like if Bruce had stayed with the tribe for a lot longer. It is all well and good everyone being nice and sharing the food ect with him and calling him like a brother, but what happens when there is famine? Also how ethical is it to bring along western views and leave them within a tribe? Will the making of the film have an effect on the future of the tribe. I supose some of these are unanwserable questions. But worth thinking about.
