It is, it's also the world's most prolific weapon IIRC. Cheap, reliable and deadly. They turn up everywhere.

I think that british Aerospace make bullets or gun parts. Whether or not the gun is russian or not, I know that britain armed iraq years ago and many of the weapons that are used against british troops are from the UK.

Thoroughly enjoyable programme again, I thought, and we all enjoyed it. Apparently he stays with them for a month, so there's obviously a lot we don't see. He's off to see headhunting cannibals next week, I think, if I remember the trailer correctly.

Yeah (still haven't seen this weeks) like I said last week I wish they'd done a 3 parter on each tribe, would have been excellent compared to most of the crap that's on.

Did you see that girl getting her boob tattooed and not flinch. I would have been far more girly than him when he had it done.

That was another definite "look away" moment, which is saying something!

Designed by the Germans late in WWII but not put into production in time to be used widely. The Russians 'liberated' the design and it was developed by Mr Kalshnikov into the weapon we see today. The design pattern and manufacture was donated to China and other East Eurpean Countries during the cold war and appropriated by other manufacturers in less regulated countries (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Ethipia, Somalia etc). It's very popular due to its simple build and rugged nature. It's not compatible with UK weapons or ammunition. So in this case we're not guilty.

I know this due to watching a documentary on a cable channel with a wide-awake baby in the small hours of a winter night. Also picked up a disturbing amount about black country steam trains.

Agree, but I do believe the government needs them to achieve certain figures

The government should be able to jusify the TV lincensing by the quality of the programmes, it was certainly one of the best things I've seen for a few weeks, but second to the Channel 4 War on terra programme by Marcel Theroux. I can't remember the name of the programme, did anyone else see it?

Watched this weeks last night, this series on it's own justifies the licence fee
