Stretching the definiton of the environment a bit, but when I came into work this morning, there was quite a bright light, stationary in the sky. Is there any chance that it was the Morning Star (Venus?)?

If it was to the south-ish, it could have been the international space station thingy (sorry terribly technical ) That can be really bright sometimes.

I saw it again this morning. It is more East-ish than South-ish,

For reasons best known to themselves (I probably signed up once, is probably the reason) these people

keep sending me newsletters, they note what's worth looking out for at the moment and they have plenty of good links too. Don't know if it's any help - I'm more of a "ooh it's pretty" kind of observer

Arrh, mind you its something I could quite easily spend far too much time on - if I had it. Some thing comforting about seeing Orion in the sky on the cold winters nights in my book.

If I am not presuming and that is in response to the apod pictures, some of them are pretty cool!

Oh yes, it makes you realise what a small part of the solar system we really are.

I like the Aurora As Seen From Space one, myself. And the explanation underneath is quite entertaining.
