as someone with 12 cats and 6 dogs and the odd foster dog occasionaly, I have more than a passing aqquaintance to 'mistakes'. I know what you mean about the amount too as I own a long dog.
Ecover won't cut the mustard. You need to buy some biological washing liquid, mix a solution of it and soak the area. The enzymes eat the bacteria which cause the smell. Then rinse, dab dry and you will be fine. You can always put a few drops of nice smelling essential oil in the area but you won't need to.
