Any ideas where I can get some 5" screw type vine eyes? B&Q only do 4", found a great online place that's really cheap

https://www.romark.co.uk/

But they only do 4" too

Have you tried screwfix? They do 6, 8, 10 inch eye bolts (D19219) but only 100mm eyes.

You could also try the aptly named ironmongery direct.

Overkill for my purposes, it's just to secure some wires for my grape vine

It may be a wild goose chase, but I've seen them mentioned in books so I assumed they'd be available, 4" just isn't long enough for my purposes

What about someone like Harrods Horticultural? Rather than DIY shops look at garden suppliers etc.

OK I'm just ordering the 4" ones from romark (and loads of other stuff that I'll probably never find when I need to use it )

https://www.kayshorticulture.com/ ?

they have mostly everything garden like in the whole world, are generally incredibly cheap, pretty helpful on the phone.

Warning - their online and paper catalogues would provoke homicidal tendencies in Mother Teresa. I would strongly recommend phoning them if you're in any kind of hurry.

Tahir, how much difference will the size make. Just curious.

Quite a bit, I've ordered 4" now but 5 " would have left a nice gap in front of the piers (or whatever you call 'em) in the wall that the vine's going on.

Too much trouble to mount them on a block of wood?

Found this late as usual!

Grape vines used to be held off the wall with special brackets about 12" long to allow airflow both sides, I find that an 8" shelf bracket does the job nicely on an outdoor wall
