Why not? It'd pay some bills, reduce your stress, help them out? Is this creative snobbery? (and I mean that nicely)

It probably is creative snobbery - can't think of anything worse than sitting making up kits. I'd rather work behind a till.

Don't your kids need pocket money?

IIRC you automatically have copyright on any article you write. Statements at the bottom of articles stating that something is copyrighted are strictly unnecessary.

I meant the finished item, not a newspaper article. You can copyright the plans and the pattern, but not the finished article.

Absoloutely not

Making up kits feels like the creative equivalent of stuffing envelopes.

But if it's getting you out of a hole financially then it's worth it isn't it?

And making them up bores me rigid. I've sold about 10 of them in total. They aren't worth the drudge.

But it's not getting me out of a financial hole so no, it's not worth it. I'm getting out of my own way this year - I'm not farting around with kits and craft fairs - what I do is a whole different market to that. I've applied to be part of a small business mentoring scheme where they'll assign me a consultant to help me find how to get to the market that's right for me. The last woman who did it makes applique tea cosies (amongst other things) and she now has a turnover in excess of 60k

You could try putting up a notice in largeish print something along the line of "I hope you like my designs/articles/kits - they are my own ariginal designs and I would appreciate you not copying them/stealing my ideas/techniques without my express permission. " - or similar.

I t won't stop those who are hellbent on copying and stealing your ideas, but it might help, and put those of a less selfish nature off.

That's an interesting resource? Is it a local or a national thing?
