i live in london. there is lots of vermin walking the streets here. is that a good enough reason to own one????

but seriously - is there a website or something where i can look to see what they define as secure storage etc.

i've tried contacting a few london clubs in the past to see if i can join but snobbery prevented them from returning calls/emails....

I've got a friend in Putney that owns a shotgun, he keeps it at home in a gun cabinet.

However, you do not need a reason.

Thanks - would love to pick it up again as I haven't been able to bare parting with my rifle and hate to see it lying unused.

Now can anyone recommend any "friendly" clubs in London area?

Most gun dealers and online stores will provide a suitable approved cabinet. You'll need to fix it to a solid wall preferably with concrete block or brick using anchor bolts (often provided with the cabinet). It's good to have the cabinet out of sight e.g. under the stairs or in a back room so its not visible from outside. It's quite a good idea to fit it into a corner such that it would be difficult to lever the door open with a pry bar. You must never tell anyone where the keys are kept, sometimes FAOs will ask a trick question to see if you have - instant refusal of certificate.
