Was thinking the same thing myself. I'd have to scrub under my fingernails for a week to get them looking like that!

Don't you like my hands then Sean? . Actually I was amazed they were that clean too, normally they have this attractive eclipse effect

Hope it works for you Nora, it is really easy and very forgiving (you can weave in two stems or remove one if you get really desperate and muck up the weaving). It's about the only craft thing I can actually do without (close your eyes, sensitive folk) reading a book so it was about time I made a contribution!

WW, Lavender likes light soil so we can send you a few bags of chalk rubble.

I actually think that may be the problem - real soil is a bit rich for them (mine grew and grew, and died off in the middle, and the other stuff just sulked!) I'll swap you for some old river bed loam!

Having looked at the article, I reckon I could manage that - just off to scrump some lavender - I wonder if it would work with rosemary too?

That's my how-to that's linked above, and in reply to the 1/2" ribbon comment - they really do look quite nice. I have two in my linen closet.

Hello Divatribe, welcome to the site. Are the 1/2" ones bigger in themselves and does the ribbon ruche up at all? The reason I don't fancy it is that I started with a 1/2 cm ribbon and although it was pretty I then made a few for gifts with a narrower still ribbon and they looked much neater, so that I thought the 1/2 inch would be a bit untidy - although much quicker to make I imagine?

Do you have a picture of a completed one with 1/2", I would love to see if there is less difference than I imagine?

The picture in the how-to, admittedly small, is 1/2" ribbon. Since I haven't made them with 1/4" ribbon, I can't compare the sizes. I can assume 1/2" ribbon doesn't take as long to weave.

Here is a slightly bigger version of the picture.

Bugs, What a star! Just read your instructions/guide and it is so clear it has made me determined to strip the local Aldi carpark!

I'd like to try and fill the head with rosemary as I have an overflow this year....what do you think?
