Hopefully not, since :

1) Cookie settings were changed to make things better.
2) This time we have not done any clever redirection, people get here when they get here, slower but safer.

Would figure, my phone is OUT currently, it had a spell IN. Time to live on some wrong DNS records out there is 8 hours!

When we change the server we change IP address and tell the internet nameserver system that we have done so.

This is a massive distributed system, we have our own nameserver, so does your ISP and your phone company.

When you ask your phone to go to downsizer, it asks the phones nameservers if it knows where downsizer is?

If it doesn't it asks another nameserver.

When it knows where downsizer is, it saves it so it does not have to ask again.

To facilitate updates, you can specify a TTL (Time To Live) on records to prevent addresses being hung onto for too long, but many nameservers ignore the given TTL and stamp everything 48 hours and update things in their own fashion....
