I dropped a 100 ft dead Spruce today, It wa bifricated at the top, with the help of a felling wedge it went exactly where I wanted it to fall. But...... the top of the Spruce, about 15 foot of it is in a maple tree around 60 feet up, just over where I want to work. Damn ! now what do I do?

I don't want to fell the maple, but a very gusty wind might bring it down, I have tried throwing a rope up but it is too high, I know if Pea's hubby was here he would be able to take care of it!

The top caught in the maple on the way down and snapped off?

Assuming you don't fancy the climb, then probably get a rope around it and pull it out (with a winch if necessary).

Use a throw line (that's a string with a weight on the end) to get over it. Pull the rope over with the string. Tie it with a running bowline, then pull from a safe distance.

Wear a hard hat.

Or if you like archery, tie a string to an arrow.
Good luck.

Enough of this H&S nonsense. Just driving something into the maple to chake the offending branch loose

Stand underneath, without a hard hat, and throw abuse at fate, karma or whatever.

I have come up with a solution, there are 3 nearby Spruce, that if felled in the right direction will hit the Hang up tree and hopefully bring it down They are all dead too so were destined to be dropped. So I will be playing Domino rally with trees tomorrow.
