Coxs' (did you see what I did then) are in in my local greengrocer, and they're locally grown.

Cox's are almost inedible at the moment, a good couple of weeks away from being worthwhile.

Maybe the grower's got a south facing orchard or something then, I bought one on the way home from work and it seemed fine to me.

Maybe, it's probably quite a bit milder down there than Essex too isn't it?

Yup, amongst its other advantages. And best of all they had them as their piece of fruit at school today.

A dutch variety, very tasty slightly Cox in flavour, nice and complex

Ribston Pippin
Never had it before

Can't believe I forgot to bring my apples in to work. Whole buggerdy fridge full of 'em at home but I'm going to have to go out and buy some piece of crap from the sweet shop.

Anyway had a Lobo last night the book says "From Canada 1898 (from McIntosh), dark crimson with green flush, thick skin with crisp pure white flesh, juicy with a strawberry flavour"

Not my kind of apple at all, Typical thick skinned N American variety, not much character at all, no depth of flavour and certainly no hint of strawberry.

Well what do you expect from an american? All talk and no fulfillment.

I was in Lyme Regis last monday and althouh I don't know the name of the greengrocers, I think it was the only one in Lyme Regis they deserve some credit.

Outside the shop on a table full of veg and fruit was 8 english apple varieties 3 of which were organic - I was so pleased to see it. Very nice they were too

We've had Cox's for the last couple of weeks now- lovely they are too, really crunchy and a little bit sharp.
