Weight on the back helps with traction. Weight on the front reduces it.

I didn't have an issue with traction. Ever. I had an issue with steering, because the front wheels were 3 feet above ground level.

On the plus side must have been very light to steer...

Used to get it stuck lifting silage to feed the cattle as the rear end would lift as they weighed so much. The yard was loose slate stone as well so the lowered weight on the rear would loose enough traction especially when wet / icy. You had to stop very gently or you would over balance. Should really have had a 1/2 ton weight on the back or antifreeze filled tyres.

Ah, I thought you meant stuck as in up to the axles. A 2WD should be fine for Nick as long as he has it ballasted when he's using the loader. Not something I would stretch the budget to accomodate, nice if you're using it all the time or want to spend the money, but not what I'd describe as a need in this scenario.

Ok I will try again slowly.

You had the weight on the back which increases traction, with a front loader it will be on the front which reduces it. In effect you will have the rear wheels off the ground like you used to have the front ones.

So load one on the front & one on the back & your sorted.

Ah I see you wont be using the loader to move the bales. Forget the 4wd then.

Hi Nick.
I bought a Case 695 (70 HP) from Shobdon 2 sales back.

Ex Surrey County Council, so it's done no hard work.

Power steering and L cab. Everything works fine. Never been off the road by the look of it.

Michelin Tyres 80% back and brand new Landrover tyres on the front.

Taxed untill next March.
I had to replace the front grill (140) and I have given it a coat of paint where the yellow council colour has chipped off the red underneath.

Bought a Topper to go with it and gave it a hard days work last week.

She runs as sweet as a nut and starts first time on the key.

It's difficult to say without seeing a tractor on what it's worth, but replacing stuff costs a bomb.

I paid 3700 on the hammer but vat and buyers premium knocked that up to 4500, so try to buy private and without vat.

It was an investment at that money and should see me out.

As for lugging big bales about I'm getting a pallet loader on the back.

Real work prevented me getting to Shobdon last week, but I'll go next time, even if onmly to see the kind of things about. Yours sounds a good deal, but a little larger than I'd need, so I wouldn't have been competition for you.

Not that you should pay any more based on how long it's taxed for
