Sigh. If it wasn't so far away and so expensive to get there I'd love to go.

Me? Fibre-y? Veritably made of the stuff lol Yes I am, very much so - knitting, spining, weaving, dyeing, felting, quilting, patchwork, lucet, embroidery, sewing, dressmaking, you name it.............

Am saving up furiously and hoping to go; I have a friend up there which would help things, but would go anyway even if she couldn't put me up. I may never return is the 'danger'. Am aiming to end up on Shetland in the not too distant, permanently.

I'd love to go to Shetland

We bought some Shetland ewes this year, and have been having a lovely time playing with the wool. Started a whole interest in the knitting styles etc

This is scary. I was thinking just the same yesterday.

Do you think there might be just one DS brain: a sort of hive mind thingy?

Probably by ferry, 14 hour journey from Aberdeen. October possibly not the best month to travel if you are susceptible to seasickness...

You can fly Exeter - Aberdeen for 155 pounds return. Possibly cheaper than driving, unless you fill the car.

We could probably fill a minibus or peoplecarrier between us starting somewhere like Exeter- then stopping at sensible intervals between there and Aberdeen to collect people and visit unsuspecting Downsizers over a couple of days Then hop on the ferry for wool week, and zigzag back down the country calling in at other downsizers or places of interest. Call it a 2 week round trip probably.
