It's inspired me. We've been thinking for years about rebuilding the feed store. Yesterday I did a sketch of the new one, showed it to the old chap and he likes it. I'm adamant the it will be built from recycled - reclaimed materials where possible and environmentally friendly stuff for the rest, with solar panels on the roof (so it's off-grid) and solar water heating for the sink which I'll need. Also a small wood burner. There will be a small 'deck' outside with canvas shades for the front wall which will be mainly glazed doors. Inside there will be workshop space downstairs with a sitting area and one or two sleeping lofts.

Woohoo! As soon as all the other stuff is done we'll be starting. That gives me time to accumulate materials. It's even more exciting than the wash house!

Right: who's got some double glazed doors they no longer need?

We are replacing our double glazing this year. We have a glazed door but not sure if more parts are with it or they got lobbed. More windows to change yet including x3 velux if you want them mochyn...

As impressive as most of those buildings are, some of the settings are truly mesmerising.
I'd be happy waking up in a leaky tent if the views where that good!!

Problem most of us face here in the UK is even if we make them non permanent, sustainable & sympathetic to the environment some nosy neighbour is sure to cause trouble & add to expense.
A neighbour of mine has just spent the week digging back the bank on the roadside of his property & building a low stone wall which IMO looks better, & stops his garden slowly slipping & encroaching on the road.
Some vindictive git has complained to planning & he's had a visit from officialdom.
The planning officer had no problem with his construction, but said he had to follow up any complaint.
Seems some people aren't happy unless they are making trouble for others.
