I'd be happy waking up in a leaky tent if the views where that good!!

Problem most of us face here in the UK is even if we make them non permanent, sustainable & sympathetic to the environment some nosy neighbour is sure to cause trouble & add to expense.
A neighbour of mine has just spent the week digging back the bank on the roadside of his property & building a low stone wall which IMO looks better, & stops his garden slowly slipping & encroaching on the road.
Some vindictive git has complained to planning & he's had a visit from officialdom.
The planning officer had no problem with his construction, but said he had to follow up any complaint.
Seems some people aren't happy unless they are making trouble for others.

Someone near here built a perfectly acceptable stable (nice timber construction. look OK in the landscape). A person from quite a distance away but who could see it from their land complained and the chap had to take it all down. Had he gone for PP he would have got it: he's applied properly now and it seems to be going through. I will be checking that we can do what we want before we do anything, even tohugh I know our only neighbour wouldn't complain whatever we did!

On a similar note, a friend wanted to build a hay storage barn, when he enquired with the Council he was advised to apply for PP (even though it was not necessary), objections came from as far as 40 miles away, from a relative of a neighbour who didn't object!

Don't let Tahir or VP see this thread. We'd have to move it into the Naughty Corner.
