I think it could work. When I was a single parent the idea did appeal as I felt it would give security to me and the kids. The main folk for info are Diggers and Dreamers - https://www.diggersanddreamers.org.uk/ Some of these communities are run on varying degrees of privacy. Some do everything communally like eating, others only meet for parties socially. Some are looking for folk who agree with their whole ethos even down to how the children are raised. I think certain safe guards are needed ( set out in stone by solicitors) for the reasons stated before.
