thanks for the sympathy everyone!
we were on the national news this week as an old peoples home had to be evacuated as the water rose, they all went out on the rescue boats that came up from swansea earlier in year to rescue some canoeists.
so far i have onle lost the bast part of 3 years vegetable growing and a really good log pile.
my car is written off though, time for a defender!

There's an interesting article about using tree planting to prevent/minimize flooding in the Calder Valley in the winter Permaculture mag. It's a very inspiring story.
