logging in via another platform than win/linux attached to the webby thing or on a mobile platform rather than a pooter/bb could be the glitch

FB etc have had issues recently, perhaps some folks' log ins have been routed via such things and have been shaken a little.

It seems to be an Opera problem, as it remembers me when I use Firefox.

I'll see if I can find out why.

Edit:- Scratch that. It's doing the same in Firefox as well.

Nothing, Slim.

It must be a site issue as I've not tried Opera, Firefox and Edge and none of them remember me.

You should always start with a https link.

I thought that Firefox (and maybe other browsers) did that by default these days?

I always go to the DS main page and then click on the forum link. It doesn't show me at the top whether or not it's https://

i am puzzled by this, same browsers etc, different "hello" with different folk

is this a log in via a third party service problem?
a "remember me" problem? or a "miswritten address"problem?

a while back i had log in issues and seem to recall resetting my profile sorted it after a few tries and some advice, i wonder if this is similar.

That might explain the problems.

If you go here: https://www.downsizer.net/

The banner forum link is only: "http ://forum.downsizer.net/" (without the space)

And if you click the left hand side forum button when on forum.downsizer.net it does not log you in and takes you to "http ://forum.downsizer.net/login.php?sid=425e3b6fb72d593ef2814e11749b51aa"

If you click latests posts from "http: //forum.downsizer.net/" it does link to https://forum.downsizer.net/index.php

Now I've not done anything to my bookmark for years so if downsizer hasn't changed then a browser update seems to have caused the problem.

Easy to change my bookmark but should all the DS links do to https as well?

Edit to add, if I type a plain "http" it shows as "https" unless I put my a space in my link

ah ha, that might be the problem

i have a functional address as an icon on my browser new tab page, that takes me to an unused reply entry in the forum, cos i cant be bothered to change it go direct to newest posts, and then i click new posts

after lots of updates and a new machine, twice, it seems to work somehow

Nice stop Trea.

I've bookmarked the forum with the https and it is now remembering me.

I too was using a bookmark from many years ago but like you said, from the landing page link to the forum it does just use http.

I'll use my new bookmark from now on.

Thank you.

I seem to be permanently linked in. Come to Downsizer, scroll around. Decide to look at Chat - previously I would be asked to Log In. For the last several days my User Name and Password are already there, on a yellow background.

I am careful to Log Out - still logged in. The box to remember me / remain logged in has never been clicked.

Has something changed?

Nothing has been changed for some months now.
