has anyone got any ideas why my hens are loosing their feathers? they are particularly bare on their backs and some flight feathers have gone aswell. They are not pecking each other as i've spent ages watching them(having glandular fever has benefits!) the cock does sem to mount the baldest ones the most...has he bonked the feathers away? no really i'm serious. They look like battery hens whereas the other 5 are full of feathers.

Got it in one. And once the feathers have gone, he can really rip the skin to pieces too. You need to keep an eye on the worst affected - if you could give her some time to herself away from the others, she might appreciate it.

He really must like that one a lot - I would have thought with 6 hens he would be sharing his favours around a bit more.

I wouldn't call myself an expert - just had a similar situation last year. I hope she recovers soon.
