Hey Gang. I live next to a very large cattle farm. I have a white truck and it is covered with fly spots. They stick worse than glue. I am looking for a homemade solution to dissolve them. Also if anyone knows of a homemade fly killing spray that would be great.
Thanks, coyotekiller...........Rob
All that Trade Secrets has to say is not to rub off flies with your fingernails for fear of scratching the car but to wet these (and bird...fertiliser in waiting) first to soften them. So I suppose, a going over with a sponge 10 minutes in advance of cleaning would do the trick. Or just leave them there as a warning to other flies
No fly killer solution either but there is this thread:
on deterring flies in general which includes Nettie's home made fly repellent spray that sounds rather nice (it's meant for horses but I don't suppose they would complain if you share nicely).

Vaguely recall (from my my 'can I wash your car sir?' days that a toothbrush did the job, but might be time consuming.
Hello Everyone. I have found a solution to my problem with fly spots. Make a spray of equal parts water and household ammonia. I can't believe how well this works. Cheap also. Dissolves the spots right before your eyes. No scrubbing........YIPPEE! That's what I wanted. No more five hour wash jobs for me. Hope someone else benefits from this. Have a great day.
