Whilst taking the dogs for their morning constitutional in the woods I noticed in a field some white things waving in the air. I reversed and realised that it was a sheep on it's back. I pulled over to the gate and climbed over, nearly ran into an electric fence and went over to the sheep (they're big aren't they!). She had obviously been there all night but she sort of paniced seeing me and waved all her legs about. I managed to grab one and swing her over to her side and off she ran, al be it slightly wobbly on the back pins! Still she looked OK.
Hope it was the right thing to do.
Becky

The sheep was what they call 'cast'
They are a bit like tortoises and literally can't get back on keel.
If they are left like that they die and worse than that crows and ravens will actually take the eyes out of the living animal
I've coome across it a few times when I've been out in the middle of nowhere.
Its not very pleasant. Well done Beckyess !

Well done Becky. It's a horrible way for a sheep to die.

nice one
too often ive found the casualties ,groughs in deep peat are really bad wooly traps but ive seen it it very small hollows
hint always check upstream of your water point on an upland stream
bit of a design fault ,very top heavey .
however deer sink in bogs ,tiny feet n thin legs ,and get stuck with the top poking out .
well done

It's good to know that this is the right thing to do. I haven't seen this, but if I did would've dithered wondering what was best. Now I know
