I just realized yesterday that I have been my own boss for more than 5 years I think if randomaly asked I might have guessed 4, doesn't time fly when you are not being told what to do

I year and 23 days, and still in business. It's flown by. Apart from the bits where it went really slowly and my whole life flashed in front of me, of course. But I got used to that after a few months.

I had my first business account at 15 and have been running something businessy on and off ever since, usually in a very small way though with the odd break of a couple of years. Never been wholly self employed, but hope to change that in the not too far distant future

Since 1992 I've been self employed all the time apart from 2 years. I prefer being in charge of my life.

For the last seventeen years. I've downsized and been doing this for about three years now, and as my life has slowed down, so has the speed at which time passes, thank goodness, because the fourteen years before that flew by. I did start trading when I was about 8 selling my father's garden rhubarb at the roadside, and moved on to selling leeks and cauliflowers up untill I left school.

As an actor, all my life but as an actor I've also worked for others in anyone of 100 different jobs!
I haven't been a waitress or worked a bar in 9 years so I suppose I'd say 9 years totally self employed.

Almost 13 months this time round, though I freelanced for about 10 years in the 80s/90s.

I think I've been self-employed for about 8 years, but, like woodsprite, I've done part-time work for other people suring that time.

Now I don't do anything 'professional' I think of myself more as self-unemployed!

Not yet! Although like Sally, I generally have a bit on the side on the go. Working on it. Himself has been self employed for 2 years now, and is thriving on it (although somehow we seem to have lost holidays somewhere - it doesn't bother me too much though)
