Very sad to say my bees didn't make it through the winter

I got them late in the year so it was always a risk that they might not make it but it's very sad anyway

I suppose I shall just have to start again this year so if anybody has some bees they want to sell....

Thats rotten - its amazing how attached one can get to insects.

When I lost my hives to a spray incident I almost went into mourning for a few weeks, and couldnt walk anywhere near the hives. And the garden seemed different with no bees in it.

I had two very old WBC hives and I just left them where they were undisturbed, and this spring on the couple of warm days we have had there have been bees. So I am hopeful

Just leave the hive in situ, and you may be surprised with a new swarm moving in - that is if you have other bees within a couple of miles of you.

All the best

Hi sorry to hear your news, we lost a small nuc too.

My husband is registered with our local council and he gets called out to collect the swarms.

If you're not to far away from us he may be able to help you out once the swarms are underway.

Thanks guys, it's one thing I love about DS, there'll always be people that understand your wierdnesses - needless to say, none of my friends can understand why I'd be upset about insects except on grounds of money - philistines the lot of them!

Nature's child - I'm just outside Oxford so if that's anywhere near you, yes please!
