Well Bass season is here ....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! lets hope we have more luck than with the elusive mackerel ...just thought i would try and post a pic of one of miss bunnykillers Bass last summer .... caught over a local inshore wreck using live pout .... this fish certainly peed my m8's off

Just also thought i'd say the fish was a couple of ounces under 9lb ...the person with the sick as a pig face on the left isnt me ....she actually caught one bigger but lets say her hook knot wasnt up to the job,needless to say i tie the knots now!!! and we had 24 fish and sold them for just under �300 ...not bad for a days fun angling .... now where did i put my rod???

How far inshore do they come? We were at Northam Burrows on Sunday and there were some good-sized fish pootling about in about 18'' of water. Mandy reckoned they were bass, but I'd have thought mullet or something were more likely.

Well i think u were more likely right that it was a mullet as one thing Bass dont do is pootle !! they do come close in tho to hunt and have watched them hunting in the 1st break wave,i also do quite a bit of plugging for them ( rapala j11 black/silver expensive at about 8 quid but worth it) and have caught them in a couple of feet of water in gulleys

I caught about 6 bass from the shore last time I went out, all of them just behind the first breakers with the tide going out. Not huge- but one was big enough to eat. With spinning, does the water have to be fairly clear? I've tried a few times without so much as a sniff but then the water is usually brown with churned up sand so visibility must be poor.

well, bunnykiller, i cant think of any reason to not report you to the police & defra & probably a few other concerned bodies.

from the picture you posted you would be hard pressed to convince me that you were fishing from an unpowered vessel

by selling your catch you are supplying black market fish, thereby undermining commercial fishermen & making a mockery of the bass management plan being put in place by my fellow anglers.

what is this headline on the site you are posting on saying "FOR A SUSTAINABLE AND ETHICAL FUTURE" are you not taking the mickey out of that by selling your catch illegally ?

i await your defense statement before proceeding, i have already copied your contact details so there is no hiding.

I hope that we can reach some ethical agreement before i proceed to the authorities in order that this does not happen again

Welcome on board Ziggy, if you're correct I hope that Bunnykiller's acts were in ignorance not defiance of the regs. There's a lot of regs out there and peeps are always asking about them, it'd be handy if you could help us out in that regard.

It looks as though bunnykiller may not need to worry too much if the photo was taken last summer, as the information from ziggy stated that the rule came into place yesterday. Good to know about it though.

It has always been the case that it is only legal to sell any fish caught from a powered vessel, providing you have the relevant licenses.
In the past you have been able to sell fish provided they have been caught from the shore or an unpowered vessel, you were still liable for the relevant taxes.
The DEFRA ruling that has just come into force means that all sellers or purchasers of fish over the amounts stated must now be registered.
Others should bear in mind that Bunnykiller may have been fishing from a licensed boat.
