Sorely tempted to get some pigs. Have just about enough room for a couple of them - about 400m sq. But I often go away for the weekend. Is there any way of feeding them over a weekend without having to ask anyone to help out?
Was thinking of electric fencing running off a suppy from the barn. GF likes the idea of pigs but I'm not sure about the practicalities.

No. They've got to be fed regularly and given that they eat like pigs, it wouldn't matter how much you put down, they'd try and scoff the lot in one go.

You've just beaten me to it, see my new post on this section.

Otoh, as long as they have water. The occasional 24 hours without food doesn't harm them.

So, if you could feed them late Friday night, and were back Sunday lunch, and they had plenty of rooting to do meantime as well, it wouldn't be a disaster. However, I'd be uncomfortable about leaving them in case someone went wrong.
