Who do you believe? the WHO or a multinational who serves only its shareholders & has a proven track record at bullying & lying.
I'll have to think about this!!

The active ingredient, glyphosate, has favorable environmental characteristics such as low volatility and binds tightly to soil.
Why is it turning up in aquifers & even falling out the sky in rain if it has so low a volatility & fixes so well to the soil. Damn something doesn't add up.

We use it for specific jobs in the garden where nothing else will work, but generally use weeding as a method of weed control. It is using it for everything that is perhaps the major mistake. If possible, we want to remove everything that is a potential carcinogen, and when a manufactured chemical is found to be a potential hazard, its use needs to be carefully considered. However, as so many natural materials are potentialy hazardous, it isn't possible to remove all risk.

I am probably wrong but I thought the claim was that once it hit the soil it became in-active not disappearing, but if it is turning up in aquifers then it more than needs looking into, it should be banned until proven inactive at the point of soil contact. I remember that it was a revolution for agriculture when it came out.

A NY Times article - https://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/28/business/energy-environment/decades-after-monsantos-roundup-gets-an-all-clear-a-cancer-agency-raises-concerns.html?hpw&rref=science&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=well-region&region=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well&_r=0

I find it interesting that alcohol and working night shift are also considered hazardous.

Think this is interesting, apart from the use of the term pesticide, when it is a herbicide, in that the definitions used by various organisations and the scientific community differ. I also suspect that Monsanto were looking for one thing and the WHO the opposite.
