I have managed to get a squash to grow successfully for the first time, but the fruit seem to get to just a few inches across then rot off. Any idea why, or what I am doing wrong? It is in a greenhouse.

Most likely blossom end rot. It's a calcium deficiency.

Thanks Shan, although how it can be a calcium deficiency in our soil I can't think. I will try to feed it some chalky water.

Sometimes happens when the nitrogen is too high. Plant grows too quickly to take up the calcium it needs.

Thanks, I did give it some compost and perhaps some worm compost and charcoal mixed in, so it would have quite a lot of nutrients and it is massive.
