Ah, I see. It's a title. Not a suggestion?

It is, although it doesn't really suggest that the threads (as per your links) are worthy of attention before owt else.

Suggestions for rewording anyone?

Could you just make it 'introduction'? And then have 'read this first' going to a Bagpuss' post or something similar that is actually informative?

That link is merely a forum section header. We can change the wording in an instant but not what it actually does (without work).

IMHO...the info given in the 'About Us' section (top right!) sets the right tone and says exactly what we need it to say.

BUT that link is not available on the Home page...and surely it should be?

I have a memory of clicking on something like that, which also told me about paying a subscription (which I haven't )....or was that not this site maybe
But maybe new members should be directed to somewhere with info such as when and if you can offer things for sale....just a thought....

If you DO click on this forum - Site Guidelines etc - which a newcomer might reasonably do - the very first post is a sticky for the Naughty Corner - I wonder what messages THAT sends...

I don't know, but we'd better have an agonised, 10-page circular discussion about it that overheats and gets locked, just to be on the safe side.

Could we change the title of this thread so that it doesn't confuse new members - at the moment it's at the top of the list so they'll read this thinking it's the actual 'Introduction / Read this first' and be very confused when it's actually a discussion about whether or not a link works.

Not true for a newcomer, as they wouldn't be signed up to the Naughty Corner.

I'm not signed up either - but if I click on it I get all the info on the Naughty Corner and its rules and regs.

Oops, apologies - I mis-read your post.

We can work around the ordering of the stickies by (a) updating the older stickies so they're shunted to the top, or (b) by de-stickying certain items and referring to them in an overall index.

Clearly some overall tidying up is needed. We're on to it, and will report back.
