Fascinating stuff, I didn't even know there *was* a nurses' uniform. I can't help wondering of the origins of the short red cape? To keep warm without a long cape getting in the way perhaps...
Pics say 1992, are the same type still worn today?

Short red cape has a rose like bobble on the back of it. Rumour is that it is there to stop the nurse falling asleep on night duty as it would be right in between the shoulder bladesv

Now we wear white tunic and navy trousers, with scarlet epaulettes...far more H&S apparently, and no hat...

guess that would work for some people. i can literally fall asleep leaning against a wall if i'm that tired.

and those do look very nice.

*Imagines being admitted under the tender care and strict orders of Captain Toggle (who's bearing a suspicious resemblance to Barbara Windsor in 'Carry On, Doctor' for somne reason entirely unconnected with my being a vile degenerate*

Ooh, I've come over all unnecessary all of a sudden.

Would this be a bad time to make an appropriate quip about young Ms Toggle against a wall in a nurse's uniform?

I think that's Toggle's call.

Yes, yet again I've honourably upheld my sterling reputation for morally ambiguous conduct and the equally solid reputation for highbrow comedy that I've never really had.

Love you, Togglypoos (although the nurse's outfit does have its good points).
