I'm a sad puppy at times, I've come home from work quite excited about what I've managed to achieve today preparing the system to use Amazon S3 storage for our vast amounts of documents, so I've ignored making tea and done some more tinkering to get it up and running

Plus, in making the changes to be able to use S3, I've made a significant impact on improving our logging in mechanism so it now uses the underlying security framework and handles the sessions vastly better than it did, something I've been wanting to do for the past couple of years but couldn't get the go ahead to tinker

Now just to get the boss' permission to deploy it to the live system.....

Well done - it's a good feeling . Though I was really better at application support than developing. I like quick wins and problem-solving, so fixing broken code (especially on my tod at 2am) gave me my kicks in the good old days.

I started and finished a project in 2 weeks originally set for 4 weeks but the client brought the deadline forward. They love it as well which helps.

A (London) company they normally work with charged them 1,200 for inserting a Twitter feed (it really was as simple as that) so they wanted to use someone more local and communicative who didn't leave them breathless price wise.

How have you found using the Amazon system, I haven't used it myself but I have heard very good things said about it and all our data is up there for people to use freely

Almost nothing beats that feeling of elation when the code works. One of the perks of being a nerd. So well done.

Of course on the other side of the coin, there is nothing worse for your self-esteem than code that doesn't work.
