a very good cropping year on the york municipal ones.

they seem to have a rather hard shell ,im going to try roasting in the shell before opening but has anybody got a perfect method for shelling them?

dapping block and hammer after a quick roast seems to open the shells but they need a few more weeks to make it worth the effort

the "normal"ones are just about right so i need to beat the squizzers to em

Our hazel nuts aren't ripe yet, but the squirrels have been at them. Hope the jays get some too. Found some opened by mice; looked carefully at them to check if it was a dormouse, but suspect it was one of our lovely little wood mice.
