i recon Tegenaria duellica but am i correct ? it was a bit bigger than most of my "pets"of that type and quite active

ps the white lid is about 40 mm diameter and it had to pull it's feet in when i caught it

Ordinary common & garden house spider I think. I've some of these down here in all the outhouses & indoors as well. False widow. One of the two venomous species found in the UK.

In fairness they are all venomous, but most don't have mouth parts strong enough to puncture our skin. The other one as far as I'm aware is the woodlouse spider. Neither the false widow or the woodlouse spider are particularly nasty. No worse than a bee sting normally. Guardian article. How dangerous. Hadn't heard of the Cellar spider but it says it's rare.

Spider scuttling along merrily viewing the bedroom suites in Warrington Ikea. No doubt searching out some suitable style and design ideas when it encountered a woman who took a gleeful delight in cutting short it's timid life with her hefty foot. One can hope she'll reap what she sows.

Just to really trip the arachnophobes out, & because IMHO she's beautiful. An image of a garden orb spider. One of the common outdoor species.

i like the ones in stripy pajamas,we have quite a few in the bramble hedge.
