The show is to be held on the Royal Welsh showground, the weekend of May 21st/22nd-Saturday/Sunday. It is a showcase for gardening and livestock. From rabbits through poultry to pigs, cattle and sheep. There is also the Welsh "round" of the Pig of the year UK competition, which attracts pigs from the whole of the UK. There are lots of niche food specialists as well as the usual nationals for those who want fish and chips. The plus of this show is that it is done mainly by smallholders who take time to help and advise, and generally have good practical knowledge, still remember how they started, tell you what pot holes to avoid, and the definite "don't do's". I am only saying this as I will be on the pig stand for both days, in case anyone wants to meet. There is also a lot of gardening stands-Ialways buy my bean plants at this show, otherwise I am planting them too early for my bit of Wales
There is plenty for children to do, with an area given over to supervised play. |
